‘I’m in this for the long haul’: The Making of ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel

When ‘Ghostbuster’ was first announced back in 2015, the response from critics was not a huge positive one.

Some of the criticism was even harsh, as the sequel to one of the biggest franchises of all time had yet to make a single movie.

With that in mind, the film had to prove itself in theaters, which is exactly what it did, with a $190 million opening weekend.

But then the film got even better with the addition of a second, more prominent female character, and the film finally reached a whole new level of popularity.

“Ghostbusters 2” is now earning over $400 million worldwide, which equates to nearly double what ‘Ghost’ made in its first theatrical run.

The sequel is still one of only four films to make over $1 billion worldwide, with ‘The Jungle Book’ coming in at over $700 million, ‘The Lone Ranger’ taking in over $500 million, and ‘Ghost Rider’ at over more than $500.

‘Ghost 2’ will be released on December 6, 2019, and stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Leslie Bibb, Karen Gillan, and Amy Poehler.
