LOS ANGELES — A mother who fell down stairs in her Los Angeles home while trying a rescue mission has died, authorities said.
Authorities said 25-year-old Amy Buhl died Tuesday after a helicopter landed nearby and a bystander noticed her lying on the ground.
A coroner’s investigation revealed she had suffered a fall and had no pulse and no memory of the incident, said Capt. James Eustace with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The helicopter landed near the home of Amy Burch, 25, on Tuesday evening, authorities told CBS2’s Peter Lewis.
The helicopter was hovering above Burch’s property.
The rescuer was working on the roof when he saw the helicopter.
He ran to help her, but he lost his footing and fell.
He landed on the sidewalk, and paramedics were already there.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, according to the coroner’s report.
Burch had no children and had been married for nine years.
Her husband, Richard, was charged with felony child endangerment and felony assault.
He is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
Buhl’s husband had no comment to CBS2.
